Clack — Survival Guide

Welcome to Clack. Your primary objective is to achieve the highest score possible while doing your best to survive an onslaught of words. Words float up from the bottom of the screen; you must type them before they escape through the top corners. If your health reaches zero or you allow too many words to escape in a row, the run ends.

The Broadcast System

Clack utilizes a unique Broadcast input system that rewards efficiency and awareness.

• Multi-Targeting: Pressing a letter advances every active word on the screen that currently expects that specific letter. One keypress can progress multiple words at once.
• Word Switching: You are never locked into a single word, allowing you to switch targets instantly in the middle of typing to address faster threats without any penalty.
• Multi-Finish Bonus: If a single keypress completes two or more words simultaneously, you receive a 2x bonus on the final letter value for all finished words.

Survival & Health

You have a health pool of 100 HP, represented by five visual segments.

• Typos: If you press a key that matches no words on screen, you take a base penalty of 2 damage.
• Specific Miskeys: If you miss a letter for a specific word, damage is based on the letter's value, capped at 4 HP.
• Streak Reset: All typos will reset your current streak.
• Escapes: If a word reaches the top corner, it deals damage based on the combined base value of its remaining letters, capped at 10 HP.
• Consecutive Escape Limit: You are allowed a limited number of consecutive escapes, which starts at 5 but tightens to 2 as difficulty increases over time.
• The Reset: Successfully finishing any word immediately resets your consecutive escape counter back to zero.
• Healing: Shiny words (Gold or Purple) appear rarely; clearing them restores health equal to the word's base letter value.

Scoring & The Clutch Zone

Maximize your score by balancing speed with calculated risk.

• Letter Values: Points are weighted by rarity, ranging from common letters (2) to rare ones like Q or Z (10).
• Risk Multipliers: Words shrink as they rise, increasing the multiplier from 0.0x up to 3.5x (or 5.0x with specific perks).
• The Clutch Zone: This is the high-risk area near the top corners.
• Shaking Warning: When a word begins to shake, it is in the Clutch Zone and provides maximum points.
• Streaks: Every word cleared adds 0.1x to your global multiplier, which caps at 2.5x.

Surge

Score points to fill the 5-segment Surge Meter.

• Activation: Once full, physically shake your device or tap the lightning bolt to trigger a 10-second Surge.
• The Power: During Surge, typing a letter advances every instance of that letter in every word on screen.
• Freeform Typing: You can type any remaining letter in a word regardless of its order.
• Bonuses: Surge restores 25% health, slows words to 60% speed, and removes all typo penalties.
• Screen Clear: At the end of the duration, the screen clears automatically for bonus points.

Enemy Intel & Perks

• Standard: Regular movement and health.
• Tank (Red): Moves slowly but contains 10 or more letters.
• Zigzag: Small words of 3 to 4 letters that weave side-to-side.
• Gaining Perks: You are offered a choice of three perks only when you reach a 2.5x streak multiplier or when a Surge finishes.
• Streak Cap: Earning perks via the 2.5x streak milestone is capped at 5 times per run.
• Rarity: Perks range in rarity from Common to Legendary.
